Classification of refractory insulation material

     Refractory insulation material is refractory material of high porosity, low density and low thermal conductivity. Characteristics of refractory insulation material is high porosity structure and good thermal insulation performance.

     There are many ways to classify refractory insulation material.

     1. According to bulk density.  Light weight brick density range: 0.4-1.3g/cm3. When density is below 0.4g/cm3. It is super light brick.

     2. According to the use of temperature. If working temperature is 600-900 °C. It is low temperature insulation materials; If working temperature is 900-1200 °C. It is medium temperature insulation materials; If working temperature is over 1200 °C. It is high temperature insulation materials.

     3. According to the shape of the product. One is a shaped lightweight refractory brick, including clay bricks, high alumina bricks, silica bricks, and some pure oxidized lightweight bricks etc; the other is unshaped  refractory insulation material such as lightweight refractory concrete.

     The heat loss of industrial kiln masonry and the heat loss on the surface of the furnace generally account for 24-45% of fuel consumption. The use of refractory insulation material with low thermal conductivity and low heat capacity as the structural material of the furnace can save fuel consumption. At the same time, because the furnace can be heated and cooled rapidly, the production efficiency of the equipment can be improved; Besides, using refractory insulation material can also reduce weight of furnace body, simplify furnace structure, improve production quality, lower ambient temperature and improve working conditions.
