1. External thermal insulation
External thermal insulation means apply CCEWOOL ceramic fiber outside the kiln wall(fire brick) for thermal insulation purpose. The advantage of this application is:We can use low grade ceramic fiber material to achieve the purpose of reducing heat loss and saving energy. Besides external thermal insulation will not bring impurities to products.The disadvantage is: Increased the heat storage of kiln wall, makes the kiln wall easy to break, insulation effect is not so obvious.
2. Internal insulation or Internal and external insulation at the same time
Internal insulation means apply a layer of CCEWOOL ceramic fiber blanket of certain thickness(for example 50mm) as insulation material. The advantage of this application is reduced the heat loss of kiln and reduced the heat storage loss of kiln. Test result shows the total heat loss of internal insulation is 50% lower than external insulation.Internal insulation is better. But this application requires the ceramic fiber of high refractoriness, anti pulverization and low shrinkage. This requires ceramic fiber of higher price. And this application made the product easier to be polluted by ceramic fiber. In real terms, HZ ceramic fiber has better performance and multicrystal mullite refractory fiber’ performance is the best.
3. All ceramic fiber insulation
All ceramic fiber insulation meas the kiln wall is made of CCEWOOL ceramic fiber. This application makes lowest heat loss, 10% lower than internal insulation. Different building method should be used according to different working temperature and different position of kiln wall.When working temperature is lower than 1000℃ we can use carvel built method. If working temperature is higher than 1000℃, modular method or laminating method should be used. For refractory material, usually light refractory material has lower thermal conductivity than heavy refractory material so it is more energy efficient. For ceramic fiber, we should use different ceramic fiber material according to different working temperature. According to test result, if heat loss is the same, different working temperature has one particular best ceramic fiber density. If density is lower, it will increase heat loss. If density is higher, it will increase heat storage loss. The best ceramic fiber density increases with working temperature. For working temperature lower than 1350℃, the best ceramic fiber density is 0.35g/cm3. In real term, if use ceramic fiber blanket to build kiln wall and ceramic fiber density is 0.2g/cm3, we should cut the blanket into strips of certain width(for example 150mm) , and fold it into a certain thickness(determined by kiln size), then mechanically compress it as per 40% compression ratio, finally fix it with steel bar. In real term, the kiln wall structure (from inside to outside)is multicrystal mullite refractory fiber50mm + ceramic fiber blanket 150mm + mineral wool 50mm. After long term practical test, this structure achieves ideal effect in energy saving and long term durability.
